Minister of Environment Dr. Tamara El Zein on a field tour to inspect the environmental damage resulting from the displacement period.
El Zein :
• Random sewage discharge and debris have caused significant damage.
• The municipality and the government are unable to address the issue on their own.
• International organizations are urged to support and fund comprehensive environmental remediation.
Following the tour, the Ministry of Environment presented the file to the Council of Ministers and proposed practical measures to address the damage, including:
Assigning the National Council for Scientific Research to survey and estimate the volume of rubble; coordinating with the concerned ministries to analyze well water and test soil; and working on a plan to rehabilitate agricultural lands and treat wastewater.
